CHINESE PAINTING IN THE XX CENTURY: ARTISTIC, POLITICAL AND SOCIAL ASPECTS

Abstract
The scope of this research is to retrace the evolution of Chinese painting in the last century, to show how the Western techniques have been received and confronted with the traditional Chinese techniques.
Painting has a language able to transmit much more than can mean with visual impressions. A fourth century painter sayd: "form is only a means to express spirit". Infact to study modern Chinese painting means to know the civilization of that society.
The part concerning painting will be conducted by the group of "La Sapienza" University while politics, economics and social problems will be examined by the groups of Cagliari and Bologna University.
