Description
By means of a critical reading of texts belonging to the Imperial Age and particularly to III-VI centuries AD, the project aims at studying the Culture of the period, in connection, above all, to dramatic production and to literary genres; special attention will be devoted to technical and linguistic aspects, above all in cases of manuals of rhetoric. Three books are scheduled to be published: two ancient texts provided with an introduction and a critical-exegetical commentary (the Pseudoplutarchan Comparatio Aristophanis et Menandri and the Johannes Tzetzes' Tragic poetry), and an essay upon Ancient Greek Psychomusicology by A. D. Barker.An International Conference about "Plutarch and His Age" is planned to be held in october 2005. Furthermore, the anastatic reprint of the Delphic Dialogues of Plutarch edited by V. Cilento is planned as part of the project.
