Description
The research on the printed editions of Aeschylus will considere all printed texts of the tragedies (and the collections of Animadversiones) from the editio princes till today. Until now, the Research Unit has already collected and verified nearly all the printed texts till the end of XVIII century. We are going to publish, before the end of 2005, with the collaboration of Dr. R. D. Dawe (Trinity College, Cambridge), a New Repertory of Conjectures on Aeschylus. At the same time, S. Novelli, M. Taufer and A. Galistu, are revising the dissertations they presented for the final examination of the "Dottorato internazionale in Filologia classica": the dissertations deal respectively with the text of the Seven against Thebes and the aeschylean editions of Dorat and Turnèbe. The associated investigator of the Research Unit program is currently completing a book of studies on the text of the Coephores. The Research Unit has already collected and transferred on Cd-Rom the microfilms of all editions till the end of XVIII century: they now need to be organized for on-line consultation and print on demand. The Research Unit is also ready to start a revision of the manuscript tradition, with the help of prof. Hecquet-Devienne (Lille III), acquiring microfilms of the most important manuscripts of the tragedies of Aeschylus. The final aim of the research program is to provide, in a short time, a new commented edition of Aeschylus'tragedies.
