Description
In reading literature, pupils of rhetorical schools were to accumulate experience of styles to emulate when they came later to do literary compositions. So teachers would point out sublime vocabulary and felicitous verbal combinations. Thus, in the first place, reading a classic in school meant analysing its sentence into parts of speech and its verse into metre, following a specific pattern and distinctly avoiding certain types of a rhytmic ending. Suche cultural formation we'll examine in an author, Tertullian, who seems so far from classics, and in the strange literary genre, centones, based exclusively on mnemotecnique.
