Description
The aim of the research is to collect the documents available in the Archivo dei Frari of Venice in the Archivium Romanum Societatis Jesu in Rome for a better knowledge of the ecclesiastical property in the Venetian Republic and for their data processing. The information contained in these sources are varied: the total amount of the property, its use, who it is managed by, the types of contract, the crops, the use of income for a financial reuse which was extremely important for the credit market even after the end of the Ancient Regime. In this way, it will be possible to have a more definite knowledge of the incidence of ecclesiastical property on the social and economic fabric on the long term, which will allow to depict the most relevant pecularities. The availability of a data-base concerning Innocenzo's enquiry, the result of the previous activity of a group of researchers, and the geographical locations of the property, most of which are already known, will allow a comparison with other enquiries carried out by the Venetian Republic. In this way, it will be possible to verify, through a significant test, the evolution of the property of religious orders which so far has remained an unknown for the lack of systematic comparative and statistically reliable studies.
