Description
In the study of flogistic-allergic and neoplastic respiratory diseases the aim of this unit is to dose cancerogenous and toxic substances in environmental and biological matrices to demonstrate the rule of this toxic. The determination will be carried out on a group of 50 subjects who work in environment exposed to polluted breathing (elettric steel plant, Our evaluation will include the determination of indicators of environmental exposure and of biological indicators, metal mixture (Al, Cu, Ni, Pb, Cr, Zn, As, Mn, Mo, Se and other metals), PAH mixture (benzo(a)anthracene, benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo(a)pirene, benzo(k)fluoranthene, dibenzo(a,h)anthracene, benzo(g,h,i)perylene) and its metabolites. The Unit will also analyze metals in exhaled breath condensate (EBC) collected by other Units. The Unit will carry out analysis in blood, urine and exhaled breath condensate to determinate correlation between traditional indicators and indicators mostly bounded to critic effetcs. (oxidation states, protein chelated, metabolite). This indicators will be studied in relation to its amount present in the body and in the tissues. In the professional neoplastic prevention field, those markers not only can give a important contribute to the health risk assessment and to sanitary supervision, but also to the issue of protocols for monitoring the former carcinogenic exposed.
